A native Californian, Janell Burgess began dancing at a very young age receiving excellent training from the Ballet Pacifica Conservatory. She is the recipient of the Tremaine Scholarship, Disneyland Creativity Award, Giordano Merit Scholarship and is also an American Legion Award winner for her advocacy in teaching dance in public schools. She has coached & choreographed for numerous competitive dance teams, musical theater departments, after school enrichment programs, and dance programs throughout Asia & Africa. Choreographing and co–choreographing for several stage productions, film festivals, and showcases around the world, she has premiered original choreographies in the cabaret show “X-Burlesque” in Atlantic City, NJ where she was also the featured pole artist. She has been an entertainer for Disney, Universal Studios, and danced on national and international tours with The Fercos Brothers “Untamed Illusions”, Steve Reid’s “Dreamscapes” as well as concert violinist Bijan Mortezavi. She has appeared as a dancer with Lorenzo Lamas for the Miss Planet Beach world beauty competition and also danced for the opening of the film “This Is It” to honor Michael Jackson at the Palms hotel & casino is Las Vegas, NV. Her performing credits in Las Vegas include: Bally’s Hotel & Casino with the cast of “Jubilee!” as well as Planet Hollywood dancing the choreography of Tony award winner Jerry Mitchel in “Peepshow” starring Holly Madison where she also began her pole dance training with world renowned coach, Fawnia Dietrich. Performing with adgaio partner, Michael Adegoke, they most recently were the specialty act for the honorary recipient of the African American Heritage Awards, Blair Underwood. Her television and film credits include: Gene Simmon’s “Family Jewels”, “The View”, Sony, 2008 Olympics Basketball opening ceremony, The Travel Channel, The Disney Channel, and commercial for Rockin’ Body Workout. Most recently, Janell was the judge and guest hip hop instructor for Nigeria’s acclaimed dance television show “Maltina Dance All” and she will be returning again this year for her 3rd consecutive season. Her mission is to develop movement that will inspire healing, bridge cultures, create unity, and ignite a passion for life!
